Marbella is located 25 miles (40km) southwest of Malaga in Spain. The stretch of coastline running from Marbella to Puerto Banus has been dubbed the Spanish Monte Carlo. The hills surrounding the city are dotted with the lavish homes of the wealthy and famous from around the world, whilst equally impressive yachts can be seen in the marina. The appeal of Marbella lies in the fact that it has managed to resist the cruder development often foisted upon tourist spots along the Costa del Sol. It offers a charm and style which neighbours such as Torremolinos struggle to match. For a taste of traditional Spain, explore the old town on foot or drive into the surrounding hills. The villages around Ronda have managed to remain virtually untouched by tourism. Not only will the markets and tapas bars here be more authentic, they’re also likely to be a lot less expensive.
Marbella, protected by the Sierra Blanca mountain range, enjoys its’ own micro-climate featuring mild winters and summers during which temperatures average between 32 and 35 degrees.
